I am running win 8 64 on my laptop and it picked up the device with no problem. Installation was straight forward. I did not spend much time trying to get it to work with streets, so it may be a user issue problem. In conclusion I’d have to say this thing deserves top marks. I picked this particular unit because of its technical specifications; it draws power from USB and is smaller than the other receivers I own. If you’re a Linux or Windows user, the NDs is definitely a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a trouble free, easy to use GPS solution.

From there all you need to is specify the serial port number the operating system has allocated to the GPS receiver and away you go!

I was able to run the device with several free map apps but I could not get Microsoft streets to recognize the device. Show More Show Less. It quickly acquires satellites for almost instant tracking. If you’ve never used a USB type GPS before you might be a little intimidated by the setup required to get the unit working with whatever program your using but the manual is pretty clear and the main thing you need to do is go into the Windows Dev ice Manager and set the port settings to whatever your program requires.

donngle The only tricky thing you might find is that there is no really easy way of determining what port number has been assigned to the GPS unit which might make it a little frustrating for non tech-savvy users. Since most of my use would be outdoors sailing or driving I decided to give it a try. Compared to other devices I own, I find that the time to lock a position is about average for a GPS device these days. I couldn’t be happier.
